Why Living For Lucas Exists

When my son Lucas passed away at 16 months old, it was sudden and completely unexpected.

He was healthy, strong, and growing—there were no warning signs.

One night he went to bed, and the next morning, he didn’t wake up.

He passed from viral myocarditis—a common childhood virus that attacked his heart in his sleep.

In the days that followed, I didn’t know how to go on. I was overwhelmed with grief and just wanted to be with him again.

But eventually, something shifted.

I realized that if he had to leave this world, then I had to stay for a reason.

I made the decision that I would continue living—not just for myself, but for him.

To experience life in a way he never got the chance to.

I’ve always believed Lucas’s life had a deeper purpose.

And now I see it clearly—he led me here.

To a place where I can support other families navigating the same kind of unimaginable loss.

Through Living For Lucas Foundation, his life continues to make an impact—helping other families when they need it most.

How It Works

Living For Lucas Foundation provides financial support to families experiencing the sudden and unexpected loss of a child.

Families are nominated by their community and each request is reviewed by the board.

Funds are paid directly to service providers—such as funeral homes, housing providers, and essential services—to help relieve immediate financial burdens.
